If Ralph Nader really wanted to help remove George W. Bush as president, he would use his influence to campaign for the eventual Democratic nominee.B
If Ralph Nader really wanted to help break the “duopoly” of American politics, he would not run as an independent in 2004.B
By running, he is just showing that he does not care about achieving any goals; he is just stoking his ego. Nader knows better than anyone that he has only a snowball’s chance in hell of winning.B
Yet, knowing this, Nader still plans to run and spend a great deal of other people’s money to be a thorn in the side of whomever challenges Bush in November.B
I like Ralph Nader, but I wish that he would realize that he can be more effective as a consultant. Or, if he wants to seek political office, he should run to be a Congressman or a Governor.B
Unfortunately, Nader feels that he has to enter the fray to give people an option.B Hopefully, the American people are smart enough not to repeat the mistake of voting for him again, because it will just take away from his goals.B
Nader won’t win, and by running, he takes away valuable votes from the Democratic nominee who has a chance of winning. And as far as the political “duopoly” is concerned, running without a party does nothing to break up the two-party system.B In 2000, he helped the Green Party achieve some national prominence; now, he is just serving his own interests.
He is also serving the interests of Karl Rove and the Republican party, who will probably help support his run with money and time because Nader will take away votes from their main opponent.
If Nader really cared about the well-being of America, he would use his influence to help and not hurt the Democratic Party. However, Nader has shown that he really does not care about anyone but himself, and hopefully voters will realize this and not vote for him.
In 2000, Nader was trying to achieve reasonable goals and positive change. In 2004, Nader is just grandstanding.
