Passport to culture
The Cultural Passport Spring Gala will be held Thursday at Gates Hall in the Denver Botanic Gardens from 6-9 p.m.
The event will consist of dramatic sketches from Buntport Theater and live music. There will be hors d’oeuvres and the dress will be semi-formal.

Home and Security lecture in Driscoll
Nancy Erenreich, from the College of Law, will be presenting “Home and Security” tomorrow from 11:45 a.m. to 12:55 p.m. in Driscoll Ballroom.
Erenreich will be addressing how we decide what threats to the security of residents of the U.S. are so important that they justify increasing governmental power and reducing civil liberties?
He will also adress why we take some threats seriously and not others and how ideas about masculinity affect our reactions to different threats?”

Energy expert address windy alternatives
the Department of Geography is hosting Dr. Mike Pasqualetti from Arizona State University this week.
Pasqualetti, an energy expert who advises the governor of Arizona on energy issues, will speak on Thursday in Olin 105 from 5- 6 p.m.
He will speak on “Wind Energy Landscapes and the Challenges they Face.”
The DU community is welcome to attend this presentation.

Experience Iraq situations
Presented by the Institute for the Study of Israel in the Middle East, Lt. Col. Joe Rice will be speaking tomorrow in Gilbert Cafe, Ben M. Cherrington Hall in the lower level from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Rice is the former mayor of Glendale and has just returned from active duty in Baghdad where he spent one year helping local leaders create city and provinicial post-war councils.
He will share photos, stories and insights into the current situation in Iraq.
The event is free, but space is limited and reservations are required.

Annual women’s conference
U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette will be the featured luncheon speaker at the ninth annual Women’s Studies Conference, “Building Alliances.”
The conference will take place Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Driscoll Ballroom.
Three other speakers are: Michele “Mike” Bloom, dean of The Women’s College, Cynthia Secor, director of HERS and Mid-America, and Marla J. Williams, president and CEO of the Women’s Foundation of Colorado.
All DU faculty, staff and students are invited to participate. The last day to register is Friday.
