It was in June of 1985 when Joe Simpson, 21, and Simon Yates, 25, accomplished their goal of reaching the summit of the peak of Siula Grande at 21,000 feet.

These were the first two men to successfully climb this peak in Peruvian Andes.

In a documentary and reenactment film, these two British men tell their incredible story of their life changing climb.

The ascent went smoothly, but during their descent disaster struck.

Joe is climbing down the mountain when he shatteres his leg.

With their fuel bottles almost empty and no food, their struggle to get down the mountain became more defying.

While Yates is lowering Simpson in a harness with a 150 ft. rope down a 90 degree face of the mountain , Simpson is left dangling at the end of the rope with an incredible drop awaiting him.

With no communication between the two men, and after hours of both of them waiting, Yates is forced to make a decision every climber fears: to cut the rope in order to save his own life.

Simpson miraculously falls into a thirty-foot crevasse.

Yates is forced by time, food, and water to keep descending the mountain despite his partner.

Simpson tries and fails several times at escaping himself from the crevasse.

“At every moment I had to be making a decision because if I wasn’t making a decision than I knew I was going to die,” said Simpson in the film.

This astonishing, inspirational story continues from one life-threatening event after another.

It’s about how Joe Simpson saved himself by not giving up.

This true story gives every person in the audience new light of life and inspiration to live.
