To be or not to be? That is the question.

The Honors Shakespeare festival has returned to the University of Denver. The program began last week with “Will of the People,” performances of new Shakespearean parodies.

The program continues tomorrow with a showing of the film “Much Ado About Nothing” in the Nelson Hall dining room. The film features stars such as Keanu Reeves, Denzel Washington and Emma Thompson. The movie will be shown at 6:30 p.m., and dinner served as usual.

Thursday is “dress as your favorite Shakespeare character” day. At noon, there will be a lecture on the 1908 silent film version of “The Tempest.” The lecture will take place in the Honors Seminar Room. Lunch will be served, but students will need their meal plan card. The lecture is scheduled to last an hour.

At 6 p.m. Thursday in the Nelson Hall dining room, there will be a sonnet competition and dramatic reading of “Julius Caesar.” Anyone can participate in the competition. Winners will receive a $25 gift certificate to the Tattered Cover Bookstore. Categories for sonnets include “best original sonnet,” “best original ode” and “best prepared dramatic reading”

On Friday, in the Nelson Hall dining room, there will be a staged production of a scene from “Romeo and Juliet.” The performance will begin at 7 p.m.

Anyone who wishes to take part in the production should contact Katie Craig at kacraig@du.edu.

Following the performance, there will be a showing of the film version of Verdi’s opera “Otello” with Placido Domingo.
