Employees of the University of Denver have the opportunity not only to work in an academic setting, but also attend classes and get a degree by using the tuition waiver benefit.
The tuition waiver program enables eligible employees, their spouses and children to enroll in courses with reduced or no tuition charges. One program that is popular among those eligible for a tuition waiver is the Daniels College of Business four-credit management training program.
Built upon the Harvard Manage Mentor Curriculum, the Business Management Certificate offers five core modules, Leading and Motivating, Focusing on your Customer, Solving Business Problems, Finance Essentials and Assessing Performance.
Students select 10 electives designed to give the student the knowledge they will need to solve business challenges.
They can choose from more than 20 online elective modules and monthly on-campus seminars.
This program appeals to career-oriented people who have a heavy schedule. The coursework is flexible and takes into account the student’s full-time job and family responsibilities. The program allows part-time students to juggle their priorities and design their own schedule.
There are 30 different modules in the course, these include budgeting, giving and receiving feedback, hiring and preparing a business plan. The Action Learning Project consists of creating a project that relates to the student’s job or the coursework. Once a month the student attends a class taught by a Daniels faculty coach. The program is a customized curriculum geared towards anyone who manages people.
Many people in the working field never receive formal training on how to manage people, while this program teaches those skills and how to effectively use them in the work environment
