A University of Denver graduate student and employee was found dead in her on-campus apartment Jan. 26, in an apparent suicide.
Kathleen “Kait” Buckley’s body was found in the Cavalier Apartments at 7 p.m.
A memorial service for Buckley will be held tomorrow at 5 p.m. at the Cable Center, located at 2000 Buchtel Blvd.
The 30-year old was a full-time assistant director of residence life. She supervised the residence facilities on the northern part of campus. She was also a doctoral candidate in the College of Education.
“We are shocked and saddened by Kait’s death,” Gail Howard, director of residence life, said. “Kait was a valued member of our community, and our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.”
On Jan. 25, the night before Buckley’s body was found, a DU student reported that another student in Nelson Hall was threatening to commit suicide.
The Denver Police and Fire Departments responded. Denver police escorted the student to Rose Medical Center for a voluntary evaluation.
The university’s counseling services are available to help students and the DU community.
The center’s walk-in hours are 2-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Regular counseling hours are 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Counselors are also on call 24 hours. They can be reached at 303.871.3511.
