The University of Denver volleyball split its two games on the final day of the University of Denver Invitational, defeating Maryland in five games (31-29, 26-30, 30-27, 30-23, 15-10) for its first win of the season and falling to No. 19 Santa Clara 3-0 (16-30, 12-30, 22-30). With the split Denver finished the weekend with a 1-9 overall record. No. 8 Minnesota won the tournament 3-0 record, Santa Clara finished 2-1, Denver 1-2 and Maryland 0-3.The Denver volleyball plays next Friday, Sept. 27, when they open Sun Belt Conference against South Alabama at 6 p.m. at South Alabama.
