K-19: THE WIDOWMAKER

Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson star in a thrilling drama about what many believe to be the most dangerous time in global history. Based on a true story, the movie takes place in 1961 during the Cold War, when the Soviet Union had enough nuclear weapons to destroy the world.

K-19: The Widowmaker is not a film about war but about the courage it takes not to go to war. It’s a flick about military muscle, mind and heart.

HEY ARNOLD! THE MOVIE

Nickelodeon’s football-headed hero, Arnold, comes to the big screen. Arnold’s neighborhood is in peril. Future Tech Industries, a heartless group of developers led by the evil Mr. Scheck, is about to tear down Arnold’s neighborhood and build a gigantic shopping mall. It’s up to Arnold and his friends to fight the coporate Goliath and save his neighborhood.

EIGHT LEGGED FREAKS

What do you get when you cross toxic waste with a bunch of exotic spiders?

Eaten. That’s what.

As every fan of classic spine-tingerlers knows, given the opportunity and the right chemical enhancement, spiders will grow to humongous size and wreak havoc upon humanity. This scenario happens in a rural minining town, where Chris McCormick, played by David Arquette, gathers his town to fight the freaks. But not before they eat a couple of townsfolks.

POWER PUFF GIRLS

Sugar…spice…everything nice…and a whopping dose of powerful mystery substance Chemical X–that’s what created the Power Puff Girls. Blossom, Bubbbles and Buttercup are hitting the big screen with the story of how they came to be the official protectors of the City of Townsville.

REIGN OF FIRE

Eye candy abounds in Rob Bowman’s newest film, Reign of Fire, in it he invents a frightening post-apocalyptic Earth decimated by a species of newly awakened ancient species of fire-breathing dragons.

The human survivors apparently either hide (if they’re English) or fight (if they’re American). American Psycho’s Christian Bale leads the English group holed up in a deteriorating castle and Matthew McConaughey leads the American soldiers in their quest to destroy the beasts once and for all.

Unfortunately, the mythology of the dragons is left to your imagination (along with most of the storyline). However, the film is full of dazzling special effects and the dragons look amazing, so much so, you’ll wish they used more of them in the film. With delicate wings and alligator-like skin, the dragons cry sounds like a cross between a snake and a monkey.

Action fans will love the thrill a minute ride and onscreen trials, even if it does lack a little fire.
