The second annual Drag Queen show was a hit again this year, but some students are concerned about the messages that it may be sending to students and community members.
Two main concerns were voiced from the Christian and feminist perspectives.
She said the lifestyle that is taken lightly in the show is one that abandons the work that the creator put so much love and care into.
“It makes me sad that the rest of the church kicks these people out, because I think that’s the exact opposite of what Jesus would have done,” said junior Kellen Crouch.
The other main objection to the show comes from the feminist perspective.
“To see a man onstage behaving like he thinks a woman should behave could play off on how women think they should behave,” said senior Laura Landgraf. “They’re making a mockery of what it is to be a woman,” said Landgraf.
The student in charge of the show was not available for comment pertaining to these concerns.
