AUSA Senate elections will be held next week, Monday through Wednesday, and candidates are gearing up for their campaigns.

Vying for the top spots of president and vice president, Jillian Doss and Rory Vaden go against Jake Bakker and Will Ford.

Doss and Vaden are running under the slogan, “Proven winners who lead by example.” Doss created a long-term plan and raised $67,000 for improvements to Driscoll Center, and Ford worked to raise the meal plan conversion rate to $3.50.

Among other issues, they are focusing on renovating Driscoll Center and devising events that will create a more unified student body.

Bakker and Ford plan to institute a system like SafeRide that will take students to the mountains on weekends, and they also plan to try to raise the salaries of students with work studies.

“A couple of years ago it cost $10 to go out and have a good time, but with the rate of inflation it now costs $20, so we want to increase the salaries of work study students,” said Ford.

Bakker and Ford also plan to focus on improving the quality of on-campus food and on involving freshmen in campus activities.

“If we get them involved early, they’ll continue to be involved throughout the four years,” said Bakker.
