An AUSA senator filed a Campus Safety report saying that a 12-13 year-old boy has been memorizing DU students’ identification numbers, writing down students’ social security numbers and trying to hack into the DU mainframe.

AHUM/SOCS Senator Kimberly Kirven said in her report that the boy approached her yesterday afternoon at the Senate election table in Driscoll Bridge and proceeded to brag about how he enjoys coming to DU to steal students’ IDs and “make lots of photocopies.”

When the boy used a DU computer to try to log onto the mainframe, the encounter escalated and Kirven told the boy to come with her to speak with a Campus Safety officer. When she told him that what he was doing was a criminal offense, the two “got into a pulling match.”

“He tried to run down the stairs while I grabbed his arm and his shirt. He began screaming,” said Kirven.

A woman from the Student Involvement Center helped Kirven detain the boy.

The boy then evaded the two DU affiliates and ran across the lawn.
