The Sixth Annual University of Denver Charity Ball is being held March 1 from 8 p.m. until midnight at the Terrace Gardens.

All proceeds will go to benefit the Bridgeway Home.

The Bridgeway Home is a house and education center for pregnant women between the ages of 15 and 19 who don’t have anywhere to live. They can live at the home for up to 18 months.

The women are required to work or go to school while living at the home. If they have dropped out of high school they must work toward getting their General Education Degrees. If they are still in high school, they must continue working toward getting their diplomas. They also take classes twice per week at home to learn practical life skills.

Following the charity ball, a service opportunity will be available for DU students to work at the Bridgeway Home.

Co-Chair Emily Nystrom plans on getting a group of students together to help work at the house doing repair or maintenance chores or whatever the house needs to have done.

The charity ball committee has received several major donations from the DU community. The Pioneer Leadership Program, the Alumni Center, and Director of Student Programs Jennifer Layton, have all donated to the charity ball.

The charity ball’s theme this year is “Take a Bow.” Tickets are $15 per person and must be purchased in advance; they will not be sold at the door. They will be on sale starting Monday in the Student Involvement Center. They will also be sold next week during the day on the Driscoll Bridge and in the evening at the Residence Halls.

The price includes hors d’oeuvres, dessert and transportation to the event.

The transportation is being donated by People’s Choice Transportation, and buses will be leaving every half-hour starting at 7:45 p.m. from Schwayder Art Building.
