The Gamma Lambda chapter of Theta Chi held its quarterly scholarship dinner last Monday at their fraternity house on New Row.

“It celebrates the biggest reason that we’re here,” commented junior Zach Taylor, the chapter librarian who organized the evening.

The chapter received 11 of 13 National Chapter Excellence Awards, and 28 of the 48 Theta Chi brothers were recognized for having a 3.5 or higher GPA. Most of the brothers had above a 3.0 or above, with 40 out of 48 brothers recognized for achievement.

University of Denver faculty and staff attended the dinner, including Chancellor Daniel Ritchie, Vice Chancellor John Dolan, and 11 professors from multiple academic departments. C.J. Vanstrom, an officer with the Grand Chapter, was also present, along with Andrea Eickhoff from International Headquarters.

The Department of Student Involvement was also represented at Theta Chi’s event. Carl Johnson, the director of Greek Life, joined Jennifer Layton, Liz Adams and Mike Mekenzie for dinner at the fraternity house.

“Something like this is a great way to get together and recognize the brothers, and thank the professors and faculty for all that they do for us,” Taylor explained.
