Last weekend the Sixth Annual Winter X Games took place at Buttermilk Ski Area in Aspen.
The X Games are one of the most competitive sporting events in the world, drawing some of the best athletes from around the globe to showcase stunts and tricks.
Events in skiing, snowboarding, moto x and snowmobiling were held at the Games.
At the Moto X-Big air event, each rider was allowed three jumps to gain the best score from the judges.
In the first round, Brian Deegan busted out his new trick called the “Mandatory Suicide,” where he lands sitting side on the bike. This trick was enough to ensure him a gold metal.
“Mad” Mike Jones, the winner from the previous year, performed his patented “kiss of death” trick and earned second place silver. Tommy Clowers came in third and received the bronze.
These competitors usually jump on dirt, but must land on snow for the winter games.
In the men’s snowboard half pipe event, J.J. Thomas earned the gold metal by getting huge air and pulling off a “Switch McTwist” with a tail grab.
Shaun White, only 15 years old, came away with the silver by performing a huge run with an alley-oop mctwist. The bronze went to Keir Dillion.
The X Games will air on ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC Feb. 1-5.
Other highlights of the day included autograph signings by some of the athletes, including skateboarder Tony Hawk.
