Erin Slason is a first year student living on the honors floor in Centennial Halls.

Her RA is Micaela Morenz, someone who she thinks is “fun, great at getting all the girls involved, and an all around good person.”

Some of the floor programs that Morenz has done include going to see Broadway play, group laser tag expeditions, and Slason’s favorite…a masseuse that came in the weekend before finals.

Slason says that Morenz shows great dedication, enthusiasm and pride in the floor programs and other activities that she organizes.

While Halls has had few documentations in comparison to J-Mac, student Matt Brown said that he still feels like the RAs maintain control without documentations.

In J-Mac, Fred Crow is a first-year student living on the Pioneer Leadership Program floor. He said that his RA is a very likeable person and he is a “happy go-lucky guy.” Other students living on the same floor agree, even though they have been documented for various violations. The students agree that they all understand that the RAs have to exercise some control over them.

Even though RAs are disciplinarians, they are also people that students can talk to, said sophomore Lin Nguyeni, who adds that her RA is one of her best friends. They share mutual interests and have found common bonds in some of the classes they have together. “They are students just like us; they have the same responsibilities and more, so you have to respect that,” Nguyeni said.

Most students agree that the residential staff does an excellent job of keeping everything running smoothly. RAs are students as well as mentors that are trained to help out in any situation.
