The Olympic Torch is coming to the University of Denver.

The torch will be carried by a University of Denver High School student, Ariella Rojhani, on Jan. 31.

Rojhani was nominated by her older brother, Ethan, to carry the torch. He is currently a graduate student.

Ariella Rojhani said that although her brother did not tell her the reason for his nominating her, her “intuition” leads her to believe that he did so because while her younger brother, Seth, was sick with cancer, she acted as the “glue that held (the) family together” during the rough time.

She believes that this is her older brother’s way of expressing his appreciation for her strength during that time.

Rojhani said that she “never” thought she would be carrying the Olympic Torch, and is very “excited.

The torch will be pass along University Boulevard between Warren and Evans avenues and at the Daniels College of Business at approximately 8:15-8:30 a.m.

Student are encouraged to come and cheer for the Olympic Torch during this time and show their DU spirit.
