Last spring, USA Today accepted applications for a position with USA Today for a student correspondent during the presidential debate on our campus Oct. 3.

Applicants were asked for their resume as well as writing and photography samples. Sophomore Anna Gauldin, journalism major from Glenwood Springs and editor of the sports section for the Clarion was awarded this position.

“It’s an unbelievable opportunity, especially considering I’m a journalism major,” said Gauldin.
As the debate correspondent, Gauldin has been taking video and photographs on campus of voter registration and passport events.

She has been tweeting and posting pictures this past week and will be live-tweeting from the media center Wednesday among some of the biggest personal in media.

“I’m thrilled to be able to experience the debate from the media center to make connections with people from USA Today and people from other media organizations. I think it’s a great opportunity and it’s made me very excited to pursue journalism in my life,” said Gauldin.

Gauldin urges students to write in questions or comments to @DebateDenver and use the hashtag feature, #DebateDenver where she can tweet a response about what’s happening within the media center.
