Medical
On Tuesday, April 19, at 3:04 p.m., Campus Safety responded to an outgoing 911 call from Sturm Hall. Upon arrival, officers contacted a student who was in need of medical assistance. Officer provided assistance until paramedics arrived on the scene and transported the student to Porter Hospital.
On Wednesday, April 20, at 4:01 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from the Cable Center regarding an unaffiliated party in need of medical assistance. The reporting party noted that they had also called 911 and that paramedics were en-route. Upon arrival at the scene, a Campus Safety officer provided assistance to the unaffiliated party until paramedics arrived and transported them to Denver Health Medical Center.
On Thursday, April 21, at 1:38 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from parking lot #302 regarding a staff member in need of medical assistance. Campus Safety officers responded to the scene, spoke to the staff member and contacted paramedics for assistance. The staff member was transported by paramedics to Porter Hospital.
Theft
On Tuesday, April 19, at 11:14 p.m., a Parking Enforcement Officer took a report from a DU staff member regarding the unauthorized use of a parking coupon code. The staff member reported that a coupon code issued for a specific event had been used an inordinate number of times in various lots of campus and that there was suspicion regarding the validity of its use. An investigation revealed that four DU students had been using the code multiple times without authorization.
On Wednesday, April 20, at 6:56 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from the Ritchie Center regarding a stolen cell phone. Upon arrival a Campus Safety officer spoke with a DU student who reported that, sometime between 6 and 6:50 p.m., their phone was apparently stolen from the unsecured area in which it was left. The student was advised that they could also file a report with the Denver Police.
Threat
On Tuesday, April 19, at 2:47 p.m., Campus Safety took a report from a DU staff member who relayed that a former DU employee had been returning to DU and using language that made the staff member feel threatened.
Traffic
On Wednesday, April 20, at 11:29 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from Parking Lot 103 regarding a traffic accident. Upon arrival, an officer spoke with a DU student who reported that, while backing out of a parking space, they struck another student’s vehicle. Campus Safety contacted the owner of the vehicle that was hit. The owner of the vehicle that was hit responded to the scene and noted that there was no noticeable damage to their vehicle.
On Friday, April 22, at 8:08 a.m., Parking Services responded to a call from parking lot “M” regarding a hit and run vehicle accident. Upon arrival, a Parking Enforcement Officer spoke with a DU staff member who reported that they had left their vehicle parked in the lot at approximately 10:30 a.m. the day prior. When they returned to the vehicle at approximately 7:30 p.m., the same day, they noticed damage to the rear bumper.
Facilities
On Wednesday, April 20, at 11:01 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call form the Physics Building regarding damage to university property. Upon arrival, an officer spoke with a DU staff member who reported that, while performing their job duties, they observed another staff member accidentally break a window in the building. Officers interviewed the party responsible for breaking the window, who confirmed that they had caused the damage.
On Saturday, April 23, at 5:35 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from outside Nagel Hall regarding the odor of natural gas. A Campus Safety officer responded to the scene, confirmed the odor and contacted facilities, Excel Energy and the Denver Fire Department for assistance. Excel Energy repaired a gas meter, which was the source of the odor.
Drugs and alcohol
On Tuesday, April 19, at 11:07 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from Johnson McFarlane Hall regarding the odor of marijuana emanating from a student’s room. Upon arrival, officers were admitted to the room in question. The officers confirmed the odor and confiscated a small amount of marijuana and a small amount of alcohol.
On Thursday, April 21, at 1:31 p.m., while on routine patrol, Campus Safety observed a group of three students, one of whom was visibly intoxicated and stumbling in parking lot 401. The intoxicated student relinquished possession of an identification that was not theirs and was transported to Denver Cares.
On Friday, April 22, at 12:21 a.m., while on routine patrol, a Campus Safety officer came into contact with an intoxicated unaffiliated female who was unconscious on a bus chartered by a fraternity. The officer was able to awaken the female, however, due to her level of intoxication, the Denver Police Department was called to the scene for assistance. The unaffiliated female was transported to Denver Cares by the police.
