On Friday, Jan. 13, at 12:38 a.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from staff regarding an unconscious student in Nelson Hall. The reporting party said paramedics had also been contacted. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Denver Health paramedics who stated they were transporting the student in question to Porter Hospital.

Traffic

On Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 9:28 a.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from a staff member regarding a vehicular collision involving a student and a staff member on the 1900 block of South York Street. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with both parties who said while attempting to leave parking lot U, the student’s car began to slide and collided with the DU-owned vehicle driven by the staff member. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and no one was injured.

Theft

On Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 1:22 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from a faculty member regarding missing items in Ben Cherrington Hall. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the faculty member who said an unknown person had been taking paperwork out of their on-campus mailboxes since approximately Dec. 1.

On Thursday, Jan. 12, at 2:56 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from a student in Centennial Halls regarding a missing or stolen item. The student reported that they had left a 5-pound bag of protein diet supplement powder in their room when they left campus for the holiday break. Upon their return, they discovered the powder was missing and that several items in their room appeared to have been touched and moved. During an on-scene investigation, the responding officer was made aware of several other thefts which occurred over the break in the same area.

Drugs and alcohol

On Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 1:17 a.m. a Campus Safety officer and a Denver Police Department (DPD) officer observed a student who was visibly intoxicated and stumbling near the Barton Lacrosse Stadium. The officers contacted the student and determined that they were too intoxicated to safely remain on campus. DPD transported the student to Denver Cares.

On Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 10:35 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from Housing and Residential Education (HRE) staff regarding the odor of marijuana emanating from a student’s room. Upon arrival, officers confirmed the odor and spoke with a student who was in the room. The student denied having used marijuana.

On Thursday, Jan. 12, at 11:13 a.m., Campus Safety took a report from a staff member regarding the suspected use of illegal drugs by other staff members.

On Thursday, Jan. 12, at 11:33 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from Housing and Residential Education (HRE) staff regarding an unaffiliated, intoxicated and uncooperative person in Johnson McFarlane Hall. Officers responded to the scene and spoke with the party in question. Due to the unaffiliated person’s level of intoxication and uncooperative nature, officers contacted DPD for assistance. The unaffiliated party was formally trespassed from campus.

On Friday, Jan. 13, at 01:57 a.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from DPD regarding a student who was intoxicated and uncooperative near the intersection of East Asbury Avenue and High Street. Upon arrival, Campus Safety spoke with DPD who reported that the student in question had been rude to a taxi cab driver who in turn called DPD. The student was found to be in possession of a false identification card. DPD transported the student to Denver Cares.

On Friday, Jan. 13, at 3:13 a.m., Campus Safety observed two partially-clothed students inside of a vehicle parked in lot C. Upon making contact with the students, the officer determined that they were both intoxicated. DPD was called to the scene due to one student’s lack of cooperation. DPD cited both students and transported the uncooperative student to Denver Cares.

Harrassment

On Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 3:12 p.m. Campus Safety took a report from a student regarding an off-campus stalking incident. The student was advised to file an additional report with DPD.
