The Daniels College of Business (DCB) was recently ranked among the top 100 Executive MBA (EMBA) schools in the world in The Financial Times newspaper, a newspaper based out of London. The University of Denver is the only Colorado school that has achieved this status.
DCB’s Executive MBA Program has also been ranked in the top 40 business schools in the United States for the past four years, placing in the top fifth out of more that 200 EMBA programs nationwide.
“We’ve had many people whom have been medical doctors, financial analysts, IT professionals, entrepreneurs and business leaders participate in this program,” said Barbara Kreisman, assistant dean of DCB.
The Financial Times ranks all the EMBA programs in the world. In order to create the rankings, The Financial Times surveys individuals who completed their Executive MBAs five years prior in order to judge the value their degree has played in the success of their career.
Other criteria of the ranking process also includes the students’ evaluation of the quality of their academic program, research by faculty members, diversity of the student population and international focus of the program.
“It is an extreme honor to be ranked among the top 100,” said Kreisman.
The EMBA program and Daniels require 10 or more years of professional work experience in order to be admitted into an 18-month program to get an advanced business degree. The Daniels EMBA was one of the first EMBA programs launched in the United States, initiated in the mid-1970s.
The program centers around three core ideas, including business technical skill development, leadership intelligence and execution competence or being able to complete tasks on time and within a budget.
The EMBA program usually includes individuals with various professional backgrounds and experience.
According to Kreisman, DCB has done many things in order to improve the quality of its program,
“Focusing our education on critical areas [is] necessary for business leaders today,” said Kreisman. “Key to The Financial Times ranking is an emphasis on global education and the development of global leaders.”
