A board member at The Women’s College (TWC) who won  $25,000  on the television game show, “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” said she will donate her winnings to fund scholarships for students at TWC.

Carter Prescott, who sits on TWC’s Board of Advisors, won the money while playing on an episode that aired on Feb. 17.

“I help global companies and high-profile individuals communicate what matters most so they can build brands and achieve business results,” said Prescott.

Prescott also serves as the president and CEO of Carter Communication International, a communication consultant agency, in New York City.

When host Meredith Vieira asked Prescott what she wanted to do with the money, Prescott replied that she intended to donate every penny to the Women’s College at DU.

The Women’s College, which offers classes in the evening and on weekends to nontraditional female students, is housed in the Chambers Center next to the Stapleton Tennis Pavilion.

“With this meaningful gift, we are able to impact the lives of even more women, helping them advance and lead through education,” said Lynn M. Gangone, TWC dean.

TWC expects to receive the money sometime next month, according to Lisa Woods, special assistant to the dean for strategic projects. The gift will be put in a general scholarships fund for TWC students.

Gangone, who is Prescott’s long-time friend, flew to New York to support Prescott. However, Prescott’s spot was not taped the day Gangone was in the audience. She returned to Denver and Prescott played the next day.

“We had a watch party instead the day it aired,” Woods said. “We had TWC faculty, staff and students cheering Carter on.”

TWC offers the following degree programs as majors and minors: business administration, communication, information technology studies, law and society, gender and women’s studies and leadership studies.
