The DU community can now access the ProQuest Legislative Insight website, an in-progress database on legislative histories for all major pieces of legislation from 1929 to present.

This database opened up access rights to the whole campus early this fall thanks to the Sturm College of Law library, known as the Westminster Law Library.

It will eventually take the place of the ProQuest Legislative Histories Database already available on the Penrose Database list.

This website can now be accessed by current students, faculty and staff whether they are physically on campus or not.

Much legislative information is available on this website. There are documents of congressional debates and reports, many of which show the legislative intent of Congress.

There is also information about committee hearings.

This information is especially relevant and helpful for public policy students. The website also features presidential signing statements.

“It currently has histories of public laws from the 108th Congress through the current 112th Congress (2003-present), and from the 87th Congress through the 92nd Congress (1961-1972),” said Christopher Brown, reference technology integration librarian and government documents librarian.
