Robbers put on skull masks and nun outfits to hide their identities.

Banks are robbed. Action, chaos and drama ensue.

The Town directed and co-written by Ben Affleck, who also stars as the main character, is a heart-gripping drama that will meet the expectations of any moviegoer.

Stuffed full of colorful and interesting characters, the movie provides thrilling action sequences throughout an engaging story.

Doug MacRay (Affleck) is a middle-aged man just trying to make his way in the world… by robbing banks.

But when he falls for a hostage named Claire (Rebecca Hall) in the midst of a heist, life becomes a lot more stressful.

Doug’s friend and co-thief Jem (Jeremy Renner) complicates issues when he tells Doug that Claire lives in Charlestown, Mass., where the robbery was committed.

Jem expresses concern that Claire could get them in trouble. As Doug secretly becomes more involved with Claire, FBI agent Frawley (Jon Hamm) closes in on the gang of bank robbers led by Doug.

Based off of Chuck Hogan’s novel Prince of Thieves, The Town is not completely an action movie; it is mostly a drama.

Renner’s character is trigger-happy, while Affleck’s grows more tired of the robbing lifestyle.

Both actors are superb, and even though some may know Affleck for his not-so-good movies, the actor (and director) proves his potential here.

Other actors shine too, such as Blake Lively who plays Krista, a drug-dealing single mother.

Having once been in a relationship with Doug, Krista plays part in some of The Town’s key moments.

Chris Cooper plays Doug’s father, who influenced Doug’s decision to become a robber in the first place.

However, his father was charged with attempted robbery long ago, so Cooper’s few scenes involve him in prison.

Cooper’s little time on camera, however, comprise the more emotionally powerful scenes in the movie.

Nobody should be afraid of The Town’s visually appealing side; the entire movie is perfectly shot.

Charlestown looks and feels like a mean neighborhood, and Affleck shows that it is a place where numerous bank robbers roam.
