No, you don’t need to sign a waiver permitting the staff to touch you. No, they’re not going to pour a bucket full of live spiders on you. No, the 13th Floor Haunted House is not what you’d expect it to be, but you’re still going to scream like a little girl.
Much hype surrounds the 13th Floor Haunted House. Most of it isn’t true, but you’ll be screaming nonetheless.
Despite the name, the 13th Floor is only one floor, laid out in a large warehouse. But what a floor it is. Designed as a labyrinth, you’ll be walking through scene after scene of shocking sights.
The scares start even before you enter the haunted house. A zombie waits with you in line, going from one person to the next, with one creepy glance after another, to keep you occupied and, of course, to spook you just a little bit.
But the zombie is just one of several character actors there to creep you out. Or make you scream. Or both.
As you progress through the haunted house, expect to encounter everything from a doctor gone berserk to a crazed prisoner. But don’t forget the hissing twin girls that follow you to the next area or the left-for-dead soldier with an attitude problem.
Whatever the fear or phobia, the 13th Floor likely caters to it. Darkness, clowns, heights – you got it.
The only problem is that it’s going to cost you $20. For 30 minutes of freights, it’s a good investment. For a haunted house that fails to live up to its overhype, it’s $10 too much.
The 13th Floor Haunted House is located south of the Denver Coliseum, at 4120 Brighton Blvd. The 13th Floor is open through Halloween, from 7 to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.
