On Friday, April 8, at 1:12 p.m., Campus Safety took a report from a DU faculty member regarding damage to the Seeley (Mudd Building). At approximately 12:45 p.m., they witnessed a student fall off a skateboard near the building. When the student fell, the skateboard collided with a window causing damage. The faculty member reported that the student was injured.

 

Traffic

 

On Sturday, April 9, at 12:35 p.m., while on routine patrol, a Campus Safety officer spoke with an Argus employee who reported that they had witnessed a vehicle strike a bollard in parking lot C. The office then spoke with the driver of the vehicle in question who reported that they had taken a turn too sharply and stuck the bollards with the passenger side of their vehicle. Both the vehicle and bollard sustained moderate damage.

 

Theft

On Friday, April 8, at 1:50 p.m., Campus Safety took a report from the Transportation Center regarding stolen RTD passes. A transportation center employee reported that two passes were missing from their inventory. The passes were valued at $132 each.

 

On Friday, April 8, at 2:34 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from the Penrose Library regarding a stolen book. Upon arrival, an officer met with a student employee who reported than an unknown person had set off the theft alarms at the exit. When the student employee asked the unknown person to stop, they instead fled the scene.

 

On Friday, April 8, at 1:55 a.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from parking lot “H1” regarding a vehicle with a broken window. Upon arrival, Campus Safety officers met with two DU students who reported that, while walking through the lot, they observed a vehicle with a smashed driver’s side window. Campus Safety contacted the owner of the vehicle who responded to the scene, inventoried the contents of the vehicle and noted that nothing was missing.

 

The student was advised to file an additional report with the Denver Police Department.

 

On Saturday, April 9, at 3:28 a.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from Johnson-McFarlane Hall regarding students in possession of stolen property. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a Resident Advisor who reported that they had seen several students enter the building with a large tube, which they believed had been stolen. When officers entered the room where the tube had been taken, they found several other pieces of stolen and prohibited property which were all confiscated.

 

Facilities

On Wednesday, April 6, at 10:36 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from Nagel Hall regarding a water leak in the basement. Upon arrival, Campus Safety officers assessed the situation and called for facilities assistance. Facilities remedied the problem by calling for an outside plumber to snake several drains.

 

On Friday, April 8, at 1:15 p.m., Campus Safety took a report from a DU student regarding damage to university property. The student reported that, sometime in the past week, someone had broken a condom vending machine in the first floor men’s restroom of Nelson hall.

 

Drugs and alcohol

On Saturday, April 9, at 2:12 a.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from Centennial Towers regarding the odor of marijuana emanating from a student’s room. Upon arrival, the officers observed several cans fo beer and a glass marijuana pipe. The pipe was confiscated and all alcohol was disposed of.

 

On Sunday, April 10, at 2:41 a.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from Centennial Halls regarding an intoxicated student. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the obviously intoxicated student. When asked for identification, the student provided the officer with a fraudulent New York driver’s license which was confiscated. Campus Safety contacted Denver Cares, who transported the student to their facility.
