DU seniors gathered last Saturday at Crimson and Gold Tavern on University Boulevard to socialize and give input on the senior gift.
At the meet-and-greet, senior students were provided free food and drink specials at the event sponsored by USG senior senators Mindy Stone and Kelly Walker.
Students were able to purchase class t-shirts as well as donate and discuss the senior class gift.
Stone said she and her classmates currently are considering a structure outside of the Ritchie Center, potentially an arch for spectators to enter and exit from hockey and basketball games.
“The night went really well,” Stone said. “We had a good turnout. Typically these events bring in about half the class, 300 students.”
Before the class gift is decided upon, a survey will be distributed to senior students to voice their opinions. Furthermore, permission must be granted by the university before any ideas are finalized and plans become cemented.
Stone and Walker are also in the process of planning the annual Departures Week, with different events and class outings scheduled for each day of the final week of spring quarter.
“We’re talking about going to a Rockies game, Dave and Busters and maybe Sing Sings [a dueling piano bar in downtown Denver],” Stone said.
“I don’t think gradation has really clicked yet for the class, but I think it will as we get closer to that week.”
Another senior social will be held April 30 to further cement plans for the senior gift and Departures Week.
