Some may argue that Munch Week is the best week of the quarter. Munch Week was originally created to give students a treat during laborious midterms. According to DUPB Classics co-chair Naomi Nassy, it has grown since then.

“This year it has evolved to promoting local vendors on campus. We really made it a point to pick out different vendors in Denver that are women or minority-owned,” said Nassy.

Let’s dive into the week’s menu:

Monday, May 6, 3-5 p.m.: Taco Block

Munch week kicked off right with tacos from the Taco Block food truck. As soon as the clock struck three, students were lining up on the campus green to get their share of taco goodness. Upon check-in, DUPB also gave students a chance to enter to win two VIP tickets to the upcoming DU MusicFest, where Judith Hindle will be opening for rapper Bryce Vine.

Unfortunately with Munch week, if you snooze you lose. Vegetarian options ran out before 4 p.m. and tickets to get a free taco were out thirty minutes later, to many students’ disappointment.

Tuesday, May 7, 1-3 p.m.: Eatopia Samosas

The second day of munch week featured a women-owned business, Eatopia Samosas. The location was advertised as Carnegie Green, but on my way there, I found the booth on the Driscoll Commons bridge. You could smell the delicious aroma from the back of the line. Once registered on Crimson Connect, students could choose between beef or veggie samosas. There were also gluten-free bagels available.

Wednesday, May 8, 9-11 a.m.: Dochi Mochi Donuts

For the early risers of DU, Dochi Mochi Donuts brightened Wednesday morning with donuts on the campus green. DUPB has done a good job of varying the types of food available and what times the food is accessible. Students had quite the range of flavor options — ube, unicorn crunch, cosmic crunch, cookie and dreams, choco caramel, strawberry fruity pebble and chocolate churro. There were also gluten-free vegan donuts from Debi’s.

Thursday, May 9, 3-5 p.m.: Heckin Good Bubble Tea

The Heckin’ Good Bubble Tea Food Truck was supposed to take place on the Carnegie Green but moved to the campus green due to the pro-Palestine solidarity encampment that is ongoing at DU. This change of location didn’t stop students from lining up for an abundance of choices, from milk tea to energy drinks to all kinds of mixed fruity drinks.

“We had a line stretching all across the front of Sturm, and the owner of the truck was very pleased to see how many students turned out,” said Nassy.
