A new school year has arrived, and with it comes a plethora of exciting fall events both on and off campus. Whether you’re a fresh face on campus or a returning student or faculty member, there’s no shortage of fun things to do in the area this fall. So mark your calendars, because these next couple of months are packed with unforgettable experiences.

ON CAMPUS:

Noah Lederer, a third-year student and the President of the DU Programming Board (DUPB), shared insights into the exciting on-campus events awaiting the DU community this year.

Hockey Campout

– When: October 13th

– Where: Outside of Magnus Arena

– Cost: Free (plus the cost of your camping gear)

Lederer shares his excitement about the upcoming Hockey Campout, an event that he and the DUPB team have been working on all summer. Picture this: students camping out in tents outside Magnus Arena, all in pursuit of securing a coveted free season pass to DU hockey games. It’s a tradition you won’t want to miss.

Munch Week

– When: One time every quarter, times TBD

– Where: Various locations on campus

– Cost: Free

Indulge your taste buds during Munch Week, an event put on by DUPB every quarter. Food vendors from around Denver come to DU, allowing students to savor a variety of delicious cuisines for free throughout the week.

Open Mic Nights

– When: Dates to be announced

– Where: Stay tuned for venue details

While the specifics are still in the works, be on the lookout for Open Mic Nights. These events promise to be a stage for your talents, where you can showcase your creativity and connect with fellow students through the power of art and expression.

As Lederer puts it, “We don’t want students to just go to class then go home. We see ourselves as a very big part in student retention.” These events are designed to enrich your DU experience and create lasting memories. To stay updated on all these events, follow @duprogrammingboard on social media.

Lederer encourages students to sign up on Crimson Connect to secure their spot for the various events, especially since some are still in the planning process due to the Involvement Fair being postponed. Furthermore, getting involved with DUPB is open to all undergraduate students. There are numerous roles within the committee, ensuring that everyone can find a place to contribute their skills and interests.

If you’re seeking ways to get involved both on and off campus, Lederer advises exploring different organizations and talking to the Office of Student Engagement. “I promise that there is something for everyone, and if you don’t find it, you can make it,” he concludes, highlighting the boundless opportunities for personal and community growth at DU. So, dive in, engage, and make the most of your time at DU!
