My Big Question is an ongoing segment exploring various topics and answering your curious questions.

Welcome to the end of the quarter! I can’t believe the spring has flown by so quickly, and I have been a little behind on my writing, but I’m doing my best to produce interesting content for y’all. I hope you enjoy reading every week and I’d love to hear what people think about the column, so feel free to use the email down below to contact me!

This week’s big question: SENIOR EDITION: What are DU senior’s favorite memories and post grad plans?

I spent some time getting in touch with seniors across DU’s campus to get a general idea about what they’re doing after college and what they’ll look back on when they remember their time at DU. Here’s what they had to say:

Greyson Koinzan: “My favorite memory is from Winter Carnival my freshman year! It ended up blizzarding and some of my friends wanted to still go up to Keystone, and I didn’t want to die going up the mountains in my friend’s Jeep with no chains, so a couple of my other friends stayed on campus and we hammocked in the blizzard. It was such a DU/Colorado thing to do, but it’s for sure my favorite college memory. I’m gonna be taking a gap year post-grad! So I’ll be traveling as much as I can and filling in the gaps with a job in Denver.”

Chloe Vair: “Living together in our house for two years has given us a collection of cherished memories. From our initial meeting in the freshman dorms to exploring new cultures in Ireland and France together, every moment was filled with joy and laughter. One standout memory was our impromptu 16-hour road trip during COVID to Texas, where we created unforgettable experiences and bonded even further. Another highlight was the collaborative effort in creating and publishing a journal for young women, allowing us to express our unique perspectives and talents. We are incredibly fortunate to have met as freshmen and formed lifelong friendships that will continue to thrive beyond graduation. After graduating I will be working for KPMG Ignition and staying in Denver.”

Marina Luna: “One of the standout memories from my college experience is the day my friends and I ran through campus in the pouring rain back to our JMAC freshman dorm. It was a spontaneous moment of pure joy and laughter as we embraced the elements together. Fast forward four years later, and we found ourselves dancing in the rain in our backyard, reminiscing about our journey and the bond we had built. As I enter the post-grad phase, I’m excited to pursue my passion as a wedding photographer this summer and embark on a new chapter working for Target headquarters. These memories will always remind me of the incredible friendships and experiences that shaped my college years.”

Toni Elton: “My post grad plan is to intern at both New Noise Magazine and Relix Magazine. For the next year I’ll be doing some odd jobs, as I’m applying to a ton now, but hoping to land some more music journalism and music management positions. My favorite memory from DU is being able to interview bands from the school and become involved in the local music scene.”

Peter Vo: “My post grad plans include interning at Rocky Mountain PBS, and my favorite memory at DU is the Clarion meetings.”

Kaitlyn Klepec: “Post grad plans are to work for my local newspaper and magazine in my hometown of Normal, Illinois, and going to grad school. My favorite DU memory is making friends from being a part of clubs such as dance team, and the Clarion!”

Ana Ortega: “My post-graduation plan is to go to Illinois with my bestie Kaitlyn Klepec THE BEST Clarion Staff Writer and have the best summer ever. My best DU memory is the Clarion socials and publishing nights with the staff.”

I wish all the seniors the best as they embark on their journeys off campus. For all of us who have to stick around for another year, best of luck on finals and enjoy your summer!
