My Big Question is an ongoing segment exploring various topics and answering your curious questions.

Welcome back to My Big Question! I took a hiatus last week to cover some other breaking news and change things up (answering Big Questions is hard work). Since we’re entering week nine, I’m sure my life is just as crazy and busy as y’all’s, so this article will be short and sweet, but hopefully super fun; let’s get to it.

This week’s big question: What activities can college students do off-campus?

Since this question is focused on college student, I decided to first search “activities to do in Denver free” on Google, and here’s what I found:

  • Window shop at 16th Street Mall downtown and explore Union Station
  • Visit the State Capitol Building (they offer free tours!)
  • Go to the Money Museum inside the Denver branch of the Federal Reserve Bank
  • Take a hike (there are many parks around Denver and within walking distance of DU if you can’t travel to the mountains)
  • Tour a brewery or a tea factory (Celestial Seasonings comes highly recommended)
  • Explore the seven-story Denver Central Library
  • Tour Hammond’s Candy Factory
  • Find a farmer’s market

There are some other activities that aren’t free every day, but if you plan well they won’t break the bank!

  • Free days at the Denver Botanical Gardens- check out how to get tickets here.
  • Festivals in Denver- this calendar will help you find what festivals and events are happening in Denver.
  • Find a free “museum day,” either at the Denver Art Museum, the Denver Museum of Natural Science, or the Denver Zoo.

If you’re willing to fork over a little money (or a little more) here are some other fun things to check out:

As always, I hope you take time to relax as we approach finals and maybe use some of these places as cool study spots. I’ll be back next week to finish out the quarter- enjoy week nine!

Next week’s big question: How should I spend my Spring Break? (wrong answers only)
