So many options exist for helping your hair. Cleaners, conditioners, treatments, and masks are all available to help your hair be the best that it can be. But, how do you know which one is right for your hair type? Is your hair dry, oily, frizzy, or wild? Is your hair curly, wavy, or straight as a board? Is your hair thick, thin, or running away? All of these are vital questions to find what works for your hair. Treating all hair types the same is asking for disaster.

The scalp underneath and genetics also play a role in the way our hair behaves over time. A dry scalp can make it harder to find the right products for your tresses to be fabulous. A dry scalp leads to dandruff which can suffocate your hair follicles. If your hair follicles are suffocating, they are not growing. Clogged-up hair follicles lead to thinning hair and baldness. If balding is a family trait, then it is likely you will have some thinning hair. While you can not change your genetics, you can fight them with every means at your disposal.

Food for Thought and Your Hair

Recipes exist all over the internet for homemade shampoo, conditioner, and hair masks. The basic recipe calls for “washing” your hair with baking soda to get a deep clean of the scalp and remove excess dirt and oils. Follow this “shampoo” with a rinse of apple cider vinegar and viola, clean hair that is Ph balanced.

The above system may work for some, but it will not work for all hair types long term. However, they are a place to start when trying homemade products. Adding ingredients like Vitamin E, coconut oil, shea butter, olive oil, avocado oil, and many other healthy oils can create a great shampoo and conditioner for perfect hair. Castile soap is a highly recommended base for shampoo. Apple Cider Vinegar is the recommended base for the conditioner. Be careful though, too much of the oils and your hair will be very oily and limp. Green Tea, honey, and ginger are also good ingredients for moisturizing and helping hair grow.

Is it a Little Hairy In Here or What?

Is your hair running away, falling out, or just losing interest in growing? Solutions are available all over the internet, from spray hair to hair replacement therapy. Vitamins, serums, surgery, and hairpieces are all ways to help you look your best and have great hair. If you have tried the vitamins and hair tonics, but nothing works to help get your hair back on track, you can check out a hair replacement specialist like Dr. Pak

If you are not ready for that extreme, there are other methods you can try. For example, mixing Green Tea, Honey, ginger, and apple cider vinegar with castile soap makes a great hair growth shampoo. It will replenish the hair you have and help the rest grow while leaving your tresses feeling silky smooth. Hair, skin, and nail vitamins can also boost the health of your hair and help it grow.

Eat foods high in iron and Omega 3 to boost your hair from the inside. The healthier you are, the healthier your hair will be. So eat a healthy diet, and your hair will thank you.

Danger!Danger! Damage ahead!

Many products used for hair can cause a good amount of damage. Those curling irons, flat irons, and regular hairdryers are adding heat damage to your hair every time you use them. Try a supersonic hair dryer like the Dyson Supersonic for a smaller amount of heart damage. Heat protectant sprays and creams claim to help, but they contain alcohol. Products containing alcohol can also dry out your hair from the roots. Bleaching or lightening your hair can cause dryness and chemical damage. Choose your hair coloring and bleaching products carefully. Read the labels of everything you try. Avoid alcohol as much as possible. Try newer, gentler curling products such as silk strand wraps overnight to add some curls. If you want straighter hair, using the correct brush, brush it straight while it dries. These can be more time-consuming, but your hair will appreciate the time and effort.

Hair accessories like clips and hair ties can pull and break your hair when used. Have you ever taken a ponytail down or a hair clip from your hair and noticed the hair attached? It was ripped and broke to be there. If your hair is stuck to your accessory when you remove it, it has damaged your hair, and you need to use a different kind. For ponytails and messy buns, plastic spiral hair ties are the recommendation. They hold well and do not damage your hair.

Lights! Camera! Shine!

If you are not into the natural shampoo movement, do not fret, there are solutions available online. Companies exist that promise to create products designed specifically for your hair. Celebrities endorse many products for giving their hair that red-carpet-ready glow. Research and try new things. The right product or combination for the perfect hair is out there.

Many years ago, women believed that brushing their hair 100 strokes would make it grow and be beautiful. While there is some truth to that belief, all of that brushing spreads the natural oils from scalp to tip; if you are using the wrong brush for your hair type, you are doing more harm than good. Not all hairbrushes are created equal. Round brushes are great for curly hair styling. However, if they have too many bristles, they will rip thick hair. Wide spaced combs are great for thick hair but can not get the job done for thin or fine hair.

The Hair Saga Continues

Limit the amount of sun your hair gets. Too much sun can dry out your locks. Use cooler water in the shower so that the heat does not strip away your natural oils. Get regular trims to cut off the damaged ends. Make sure your hair has the correct amount of moisture in the strands. Too much conditioning in your hair can make it oily, and too little will keep it dry and frazzled. Keep your hair clean. If you allow chemicals, dust, dirt, and other gunk from the environment to sit on your hair, it can do some damage.

Hair products like mousse, gels, and hair spray are awful for your hair. This is because they contain alcohol and block moisture from your hair. Just think, all of these products containing alcohol could be why your hair is dry and frizzy or limp and oily. Let us take a look at why. Just like your skin, hair creates natural oils to protect itself. If you dry away all of that natural moisture in your hair with products containing alcohol, the scalp will produce an excessive amount of oil and create oily and limp hair.

Always pat your hair dry or use a soft turban style hair wrap. If you rub your hair with a towel or other fabric cloth, it can break and damage the hair. The object is to get the water out, and you can accomplish that without rubbing. If you have long hair, you can also wring the hair out.
