After hauling their food truck around Colorado, the Big Wonderful festival has decided to stay at Belleview station for another year of concerts, local eats and unique vendors. It is a mash-up of farmer’s market food trucks and music in the park. Belleview station looks like it will be a busy stop on weekends throughout the summer.

The name, “Big Wonderful,” was thoughtfully chosen with the intention of uniting community members and artisans. Eight years of hard work created this small event—what started in Stability Park has grown drastically.

Founder Josh Sampson put the focus on the food in its first few years, and this came at a time when Denver was still finding its vision for a food scene. It offered the thrill of tasting unique and new cuisines. To cheer on this new quasi-farmers market, breweries and craft cocktails were served by locals too. This month-long truck stop continues to grow with the addition of vendors and musicians that turn lunch and happy hour plans into a full-day festival.

Restaurants like Le French and Urban Egg call this part of the Denver Tech Center home and are some of the area’s best. However, this past weekend welcomed nine newcomers to share in the wonderful festivities. Barbed Wire Beef, Carnivore Tacos, Wheels on Fire Pizza and Chimichurri Bros can be enjoyed either day. CupBop Korean and Happy Cones serve on Saturdays only, while The Crepe Outdoors, Tibets Food Truck and HipPops are open on Sundays.

Having opened this year, Chimichurri Bros is a new business that began selling sauce and more at the rebranded MadeByUS market. Their vibrant, herbaceous chimichurri could be a bright addition to most dishes, but their queso birria tacos are at the top of the list. For fans of the Edgewater public market, three of their establishments will be ready to serve their innovative cuisine.

The experts in wild game—Barbed Wire Beef—bring an assortment of meat to eat like elk and rattlesnake. Their sister spot, Carnivore Tacos, takes succulent treasures and pairs them with tortillas for an ideal walking bite. Nothing compares to the magenta swirls that decorate New-Zealand-style ice cream from Happy Cones.

Colorado flare and fun are ever-present in the clothing vendors. The Denver Fashion Truck brings back old treasures with their vintage picks. B Fresh Gear gives us a glimpse into the 90s by providing funky color combinations in each article. Another vendor, Tela Designs, adds another element of uniqueness as each tie-dye design is one of a kind. For casual t-shirt finds, Coloradoing, Abstract Denver, and Kompass Appear offer a wide assortment of colorful apparel.

XLUSIV has unique stones that create whimsically crafted and unique pieces. Their stones glisten and highlight various colors, while the pendants have a mythological aesthetic. Forever Lot by Girl Tour offers spunky earring sets that radiate an 80s feel. Vibrant pastels find their way onto each dangling earring.

The Big Wonderful made its yearly debut by celebrating Derby Days. The horses were not able to attend, but the event is always dog-friendly. Similar to many outdoor events, there will be just as many paws as people roaming around. BigWonderful cares for all and even has a dog vendor to bring a smile to any pup with her all-natural, organic dog chews.

While the food and vendors are a big attraction, the main stage is where the action is. Next to their iconic yellow Wonderful sign, local bands play indie or bluegrass. Their line-up for the entire summer can be found here

The Big Wonderful offers yet another reason to take some time outside this summer. It is the neighborhood block party that goes on every weekend.
