The University of Denver is requiring all students on campus to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before returning to campus in the fall. Students are required to show proof of vaccination or exemption before the quarter begins. DU stated that they will provide more details on this process soon.
The Chancellor released a statement on Tuesday saying, “Through widespread vaccination, DU can confidently loosen or remove restrictions that have impacted social and mental well-being. Community members can feel safer and more comfortable as we make an on-campus, vibrant return to ‘normal’ in the fall term.”
DU reported that nearly 80% of campus faculty and staff already voluntarily reported that they are at least partially vaccinated. They have also confirmed that they surpassed 20,000 vaccinations on campus last week. At this time, students are the only ones required to be vaccinated, as DU is “considering whether to require the vaccine for all faculty and staff and that decision will be shared as soon as possible.”
Currently, DU is offering vaccination opportunities throughout this quarter, for students as well as friends and family members of students. There will be additional chances to receive a vaccine for incoming students on campus prior to the start of fall quarter. Students, faculty and staff may obtain COVID-19 vaccinations through their own healthcare provider if they prefer.
Vaccines are by appointment only on campus. To receive a Pfizer vaccine, you need to complete this form. Contact katia.miller@du.edu and sarah.watamura@du.edu if you need a second dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Make sure to provide your name and first vaccine date in the email. Locations for vaccines can be found at Daniel Felix Ritchie School of Engineering & Computer Science, Gates Field House and Richie Center Concourse. To provide proof of vaccination, students must upload a picture of their vaccine card by following these steps:
- Log into myhealth.du.edu
- Select “send a message/load records” on the homepage
- Select “new message”
- Select “I want to submit immunization records”
Once the HCC receives the submission, you will receive a confirmation message. You must also update your “COVID-19 Vaccination Portal” in PioneerWeb to stop receiving emails about vaccination opportunities.
The university understands that not everyone may be in a position to be vaccinated against COVID-19 at this time and asks that you consult with your healthcare provider for guidance. DU “will consider requests for applicable exemptions for medical, religious and personal reasons. More information will be provided on how to file for an exemption no later than this summer.”
