DU Hockey’s Emilio Pettersen signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Calgary Flames, who selected him in the sixth round of the 2018 National Hockey League Draft. The second-year forward from Manlgerud, Norway had 19 goals and 46 assists in two seasons with Denver.
In this past season, Pettersen scored 35 points from 13 goals and 22 assists. He led the team in scoring and was nominated as a finalist for the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) Forward of the Year. He won the team’s Dallas Gaume Offensive Player of the Year award, and he won the Barry Sharp Freshman of the Year award in 2018.
Pettersen participated in every game this season, and he led the scoring in 25 of them. He only missed one game in his career at DU and made the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team in both years.
He will certainly leave a hole in DU’s starting line-up.
