Chancellor Jeremy Haefner announced today, April 9, that DU will be implementing an optional pass/fail system for the spring quarter. The system is available for all undergraduate and graduate courses. The change comes after immense pressure from students who garnered over 1000 signatures demanding the school implement the option. DU’s USG also passed a resolution earlier this week to implement the pass/fail system.

The structure is a pass plus/pass/no pass grading scale. Pass plus is defined as having a C- or higher. Pass requires a D-, D or a D+. No pass is given to any grade below a D-. Students can opt-in to the system at any point up to 72 hours after their final grades for the quarter are out. The GPAs of students using the pass/fail option will not have any impact on their financial aid eligibility.
