The No. 15 ranked Denver Pioneers fell 9-8 in the BIG EAST finals to the Georgetown Hoyas in second overtime.
Sophomore Bea Behrins (Basking Ridge, N.J.) put Denver in front at 23:53 after a scoreless first six minutes. She was followed by sophomore Eliza Radochonski (Englewood, Colo.) at 23:21. Radochonski scored again at 21:19, followed by sophomore Quintin Hoch-Bullen (Orillia, Ontario) at 17:39. Behrins scored at 16:37. Senior Julia Feiss (Baltimore, Md.) scored at 16:07 to bring the score to 6-0. Georgetown scored twice, but Hoch-Bullen scored again at 9:32 to keep Denver up at 7-3. Behrins completed her hat trick at 0:01 to bring the score 8-4.
Denver would not score in the second half and Georgetown would score four times to bring the score to an 8-8 tie. Georgetown broke the tie at 4:02 in the second overtime to win the BIG EAST Postseason title.
Despite the loss, Denver was selected to play in the NCAA Postseason tournament. They will face USC on May 10. This is the fourth time in program history in which Denver advances to the NCAA Tournament.
