DU’s women’s club sports teams have been making waves this April. Among some of the highlights are women’s water polo, women’s ultimate frisbee and the DU gymnastics team.
Women’s water polo accomplished a personal best at the CWPA Rocky Mountain Conference Championship, placing second overall in the conference. The Pioneers started off the championship with a sweeping 5-0 win over Colorado College. They continued their winning streak against the University of Utah with a final score of 14-3. The final match, held at DU’s El Pomar Natatorium, pitted the Pioneers against Colorado School of Mines. The Pioneers put up a valiant fight but lost in the end with a final score of 7-8.
Women’s Club Gymnastics also scored major points at the National Association of Intercollegiate Gymnastics clubs’ national championship. The team made it to team finals, a historic first for the the club. They scored a total of 105.95 points, which was enough to land them in fourth place overall.
Rounding out the university’s women’s club takeover, the ultimate frisbee team, better known as Hype, accomplished a club best this past this past weekend by tying for fifth place at regionals.The first day of a two-day tournament left the team at a 3-1 wins to losses. A major highlight of the tournament came when Hype scored a win over Colorado State University.
