Denver sophomore Zora Opalka (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) collected her third and fourth diving wins on the season after sweeping the 1-meter and 3-meter dives in a dual meet against Colorado Mesa on Friday, Jan. 11, at El Pomar Natatorium. Opalka scored 246.98 in the 1-meter dive and 244.80 on the 3-meter dive, marking her third 3-meter win and her first 1-meter win.
Junior Sammy Walker (Los Gatos, Calif.) finished third in both the 1-meter and the 3-meter dive, scoring 235.50 in the 1-meter and 234.08 in the 3-meter. Freshman Kylie Katsuyoshi (Morgan Hill, Calif.) finished fourth in the 1-meter dive with a score of 220.65.
On the men’s side, junior Alex Morgan (Dyer, Ind.) finished second on both the 1-meter dive, with a 242.63, and the 3-meter dive, with a 248.25.
The swim team returns Jan. 18 and 19, traveling to Las Vegas to face off against UC Santa Barbara and University of Nevada, Las Vegas, while the Denver dive team will head to UCLA the same weekend for its diving invitational.
