Over Homecoming Weekend, DU Volleyball swept both Western Illinois and Purdue-Fort Wayne. The Pioneers improved to a record of 18-1 overall and 7-0 in Summit League play. They remain one of only two undefeated teams in the Summit League and extended their win streak to 16 games.   

On Oct. 12, Denver defeated Purdue-Fort Wayne with scores of 25-19, 25-19 and 25-19. It was clear throughout the match that Denver had the upper hand. They accumulated 13 blocks against Purdue-Fort Wayne. Senior Emma Willis (La Jolla, Calif.) lead the team with six blocks. Sophomore Tina Boe (Plymouth, Minn.) was close behind with six followed by redshirt-junior Taylor Joachim (Baroda, Mich.) with four blocks. Junior Katrina Marinkovic (Belgrade, Serbia) and Boe lead the team with eight kills. Sophomore Ellie Anderson (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) had a total of 21 assists.

On Oct. 14, Denver finished out Homecoming Weekend by easily defeating 25-12, 25-13, and 25-22. Boe was the team leader with eight kills, six aces and four blocks. Furthermore, the team totaled 11 aces and now are eight aces away from breaking into Denver’s top-10 all-time aces in a single season.

The Pioneers will travel to Omaha on Oct. 16 for a match-up between the Summit League’s two undefeated games. The match starts at 6 p.m., MST.
