The first movie review for the summer is in: Now You See Me: Second Act. Some of you may be familiar with its precursor, Now You See Me. The film stars many big name celebrities that also partook in the original movie such as: Mark Ruffalo, Dave Franco, Morgan Freeman, Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg. The sequel even brings in the actor formerly known as Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe, and a second dose of Harrelson in the form of a twin brother.

For those of you not acquainted with the first movie, that is certainly not an issue. The beginning of the movie, just a few minutes of it, was dedicated to recapping the main events and the outcome of the first movie. Thus, one does not need to have seen the original. Though admittedly, it did make me more invested as an audience memberone who thoroughly enjoyed the original film.

Now You See Me: Second Act is an action packed comedy where a team of cunning magicians use their wit to battle for their lives and for the truth. “The Horsemen,” who are known for exposing the evils of companies in a public and grandiose manner, are now up against an evil tech genius (Radcliffe) who is determined to silence them so his company will rise. Add in a thirty year quest for vengeance by main character Dylan Shrike (Ruffalo), and you have two sides at odds, and neither willing to back down.

Personally, this type of movie is something I really enjoy. Gory, intense and violent action movies are really not my style, and sometimes R-rated comedies can be quite crude. However, this movie, along with the original, both captured me for their incredible wit. The tricks that these characters perform are so clever that I get sucked in. Before I know it, the two hours are up.

If you’re like me, and you enjoy some action, lots of laughs and a remarkable battle of who can out-trick who, then this movie is perfect for you.
My overall review is: I recommend you see this movie. I saw it with my little brother and my dad, but it is also a good fit for a casual date or, of course, an outing with friends.
