This week, the Clarion sat down with golfer Chris Korte.
Q: What year are you and how old are you?
A: I am a sophomore and am 19 years old.
Q: What is your major?
A: I am a biology major and a chemistry and music minor.
Q: Where are you from?
A: My hometown is Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
Q: How and when did you begin playing golf?
A: I began playing golf in sixth grade when my parents sent me to a golf and tennis camp.
Q: Before college, were there any significant tournaments you participated in?
A: Before college, the two biggest tournaments I played in were the USGA US Amateur Public Links and the Callaway Junior World Championship.
Q: What made you come to DU?
A: I came to DU because I loved the campus, coaching staff and golf program and it is such a great school academically.
Q: What has been the highlight of your college career so far?
A: So far, the highlight of my college career has been having three top five finishes so far and winning the Colorado State Amateur last summer.
Q: What are your goals for the rest of this season?
A: For the rest of the season, my goal is to win first place in a tournament and for the team to go to regionals, which would require winning the conference.
Q: Other than golf, what is something you enjoy doing?
A: I enjoy playing the piano and guitar and snowboarding.
