On Friday, April 15, DU held it’s annual CultureFest from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Driscoll Ballroom. The event was comprised of numerous booths, each representing a unique culture, as well as performances and, of course, lots of food.

Performers during the event included various DU clubs, such as DU Club Taekwondo, Kappa Phi Lambda, the DU Dance team and more. In addition, various groups from around the Denver community also came to perform, including Bella Diva Dance, the Colorado Bhangra Team, the Garibaldi Dance studio and more. The grand finale of the performance portion of CultureFest was an international fashion show put on by the International Student Association.

The event has been a DU tradition for over 35 years. It was formerly known as the Festival of Nations, although this title was changed last year to “reflect the university’s effort to expand the definition of ‘culture’ beyond mere nationality, and to encourage students and community members to explore different cultures in their own backyards,” according to the official Facebook page of the event.

The event was held in conjunction with DU’s Internationalization Summit and was free and open to the public.
