This week, the Clarion sat down with lacrosse player Tyler Pace.

Q: How old are you and what year are you?

A: I’m 20 and I’m a junior.

Q: What is your major?

A: Communication studies.

Q: Where are you originally from?

A: Vancouver, Canada.

Q: How did you get started playing lacrosse?

A: I started when I was three. I just saw people playing it and wanted to get into it. My dad played as well.

Q: What was your favorite moment from the NCAA tournament last season?

A: The overtime goal against the University of Notre Dame was definitely the best feeling.

Q: After winning the championship, has preparing for this season been any different than in the past?

A: I feel like we came back acting like champions and not a new team, which kind of hurt us in our first game. We’ve settled down now and are getting back to our roots, so we are where we should be at this point in the season.

Q: How has it been moving on without the seniors from last year and trying to find everyone’s new fit?

A: We lost six or seven starting seniors, so we’ve lost a lot of experience and a lot of leadership, but we have more depth this year. Guys have been able to fill in those roles much easier.

Q: How are you, individually, looking to help the team be successful this season?

A: I’m just trying to do whatever is asked of me: play defense, play offense, help on the faceoffs, help with plays in practice, whatever it might be.

Q: After DU, what are you hoping to do?

A: I want to coach college lacrosse. Anywhere to start, and hopefully DU will get me back later on.
