One of the most critical choices to make about Super Bowl Sunday is where to watch the game. Some of us may know a friend who is throwing an awesome party in their huge house for the occasion, but for those of us who don’t, there are luckily plenty of venues around town to grab wings, throw back some root beer and have a great, rowdy time cheering on your team. Luckily, the Clarion knows all the hot spots around town to make the best of Super Bowl Sunday.

Crimson and Gold Tavern

2017 S University Blvd.

Like we even needed to put C&G on this list. A DU sports staple, this tavern will surely be packed with students on gameday. C&G is also close enough to campus that a majority of students can easily walk there, which is nice because no one will be required to drive.

Illegal Pete’s DU

1744 E Evans Ave.

Another close-to-campus alternative to C&G is Illegal Pete’s, which isn’t as notorious as a sports mecca as the former, but still a great place to go to watch a game on the numerous screens. For the playoff game, Pete’s also ran some fun promotions (“a free apple pie shot every time the Broncos score, get a field goal, or if Peyton looks old”) and they’ll probably have more. Also, what could be better than their famous chips and queso to compliment the game?

Punch Bowl Social-Denver

65 Broadway Blvd.

For those who would like to stray away from the DU campus scene, the answer may be Punch Bowl Social, a quirky venue with quality food, drink and games like darts, bowling and even shuffle board. Specials for the big day include 50 percent off wings, 50 percent off chips and salsa, $5 old man cans and $5 brats. Come for the viewing and food deals and stay for the creative drinks and games.

Oriental Theatre

4335 W 44th Ave.

For those who want to capture every detail on the biggest screen possible, why not watch on one of the biggest screens in Denver? The Oriental Theatre is hosting a Super Bowl party and will be showing the game on the big screen. Food is available, although you are welcome to bring you own, and there are free shots available with every touchdown. However, keep in mind that seating is first come first served, and doors open at 2 p.m.
