Despite the recentness of Greeley, Colorado band Silver & Gold’s introduction to the music scene, co-founder and lead singer Devon Hildebrandt answers questions about what’s in store for the future of the young band with ease, like he’s been through this hundreds of times.
Pie Lombardi, who plays guitar and also sings, formed Silver & Gold with Hildebrandt three years ago. Brand Vela on bass and Claire Jensen, who plays piano, keyboard and sings, are also part of the rock band.
Like many bands, Silver & Gold’s sound has evolved over the years. With their first album “Compression” released in October 2014 and their newest album “Headed West” released almost exactly a year later, the sound is recognizably their style but with a twist.
“People kind of did what they wanted and we were just kind of…loud, ” said Hildenbrandt.
Today, the band is less rock focused and has more of a folk sound to it. The new sound has a heavy emphasis on the drums along with skillful guitar playing that smoothly follows the lead of the vocals. When asked what his favorite venue is to play, Hildebrandt said The Moxi Theater in downtown Greeley, Colorado.
Similar to the band’s sound, the goals of the band have also evolved throughout the years.
“Our first show was outside a vodka distillery for a charity event. I think it was at, like, three in the afternoon and we played in the parking lot,” said Hildebrandt.
The band has come a long way, to say the least. They have played at venues across Colorado such as The Downtown Artery in Fort Collins, Colorado, The Moxi in Greeley, Colorado, and just recently played at the Bluebird Theater in downtown Denver. The ultimate goal, says Hildebrandt, is the world famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre which is just west of Denver.
“We’re back in the studio making new music,” Hildebrandt said.
Silver & Gold’s next show is at the Moxi Theatre in Greeley, Colorado on Friday, Feb. 12. The band has a strong social media presence and when asked where one could keep up on the band’s newest happenings, Hildenbrandt listed a few options.
“Our website is where all of our photos, press, new music and band information is,” Hildebrandt said. “But personally Instagram is my favorite since we’re updating it all the time.”
Along with their website, Silver & Gold can be found on Instagram and Facebook.
