Loyal readers,

After an absolutely incredible 2015 full of progress and good times, the Clarion is back at it and ready to take on its 117th year of production. This quarter is a big one for me, as it’s my last as Editor-in-Chief (where on earth did the time go?). And as usual, we will be electing a new Editor-in-Chief to take my place as well as a new Executive Editor to replace Meg McIntyre. So these next 10 weeks will be interesting to say the least as we pump out quality content while trying to make transitions as smooth as possible. Here’s a glimpse of what we have in store for you all:

Now that we’ve got a new office, a new website and a new paper, we’re finally in a position to start exploring other, new projects and seeing what else we can do to improve our brand. The first major project in store is a newsletter. This newsletter will feature our top five stories every week, delivered right to your inbox. To sign up, simply go to duclarion.com and fill out the pop-up window.

The second big project at hand is a comprehensive event calendar that will live on our new website. Up until this point, DU has unfortunately not had a very good resource to find out what’s happening on campus. So to fill that need, we are aiming to be the go-to place for all things DU. Sports games? They’ll be on the calendar. Funky disco dance parties in J-Mac? They’ll be on the calendar. We want everyone to reach out to us about their events so we can help spread the word and make this campus the best it can be. Stay tuned for updates on both the newsletter and calendar.

On top of these bigger projects, we’re continuously refining every other aspect of the Clarion in a never-ending battle to keep up with the times. Whether it’s the way we find stories, the way we tell stories or just the way we inhale burritos on production nights, you can expect us to be doing it all better than ever in 2016.

Thanks for reading, thanks for appreciating the work we do and, as always, go Pios.

All the best,

Connor W. Davis
