MFJS ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH CULTUREHAUS
Students create campaign plans for popular Denver organization
(Denver, CO) November 2015 The Strategic Communications Seminar class in the Department of Media, Film and Journalism Studies (MFJS) has announced a partnership with CultureHaus for the fall quarter.
CultureHaus serves as an educational support group for the Denver Art Museum (DAM) and provides 12 events a year for its 140 members and interested guests. Members are given the opportunity to become more educated about the art industry and collecting while also participating in an active social community. The organization is well perceived throughout the city and within the DU community.
Seminar professors Kathleen Burkhardt and Dresden Romero made the connection through Romero’s current membership and active role in CultureHaus. The pair felt the class would greatly benefit from working with an actual client to create a professional campaign plan for the organization’s upcoming signature event, Art of the Maker. The board members of CultureHaus expressed excitement to work with DU students and gain some effective strategies for marketing Art of the Maker.
For the students, the Seminar serves as the capstone for their Strategic Communications major. Each group member was assigned a position within each group and over the past seven weeks they have intensively researched the key publics of the organization and developed a plan complete with PR and marketing objectives, strategies, and tactics ranging from social media to tabling at local events.
“It’s been really valuable to work with a local client in ‘real-time’ designing a plan for their event,” says senior Jacci Willis. “My group has benefitted greatly from getting direct feedback from CultureHaus. It feels like a true professional working environment.”
Each group of students will have finalized a plan by the end of the quarter, just in time for CultureHaus to integrate the ideas of one plan into their actual marketing strategy for Art of the Maker.
