On Sept. 16, University Chaplain Gary Brower sent an email to the DU community with the news of Clay Soper’s death. “It is with sadness that we share the news of the death of one of our students, Clay Soper. Clay would have been a sophomore this academic year, and passed away suddenly on July 18, 2015,” stated Brower in the email to the DU community.

According to the email, Soper belonged to the Sigma Chi fraternity. A memorial service was held on Sept. 20 for the community to mourn this tragic loss.

Brower reminded students how important it is for the University community to come together in times like these. He also urged anyone to use the Health and Counseling Center or Office of Religious and Spiritual Life if they need to during this tragic time.
