Spring started on March 20, which means the annual DU SpringFest is near.
“SpringFest is an event to celebrate the beginning of Spring and one of the University’s favorite community traditions, the annual egg hunt,” said Kathy Aliaga, Office Manager for Facilities Management and Planning.
This year’s SpringFest will take place in rain, snow or shine on April 4 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Humanities Garden. There will be free parking available in parking lots H1 and H2. All activities are free.
SpringFest itself is relatively new to DU, having started in 2013. The annual egg hunt, on the other hand has been occurring for many years.
“For 21 years, the Staff Advisory Council hosted an annual spring egg hunt,” said Aliaga. “As part of DU’s commitment to inclusive excellence the council decided to grow the event with additional activities and naming the event SpringFest.”
Aliaga said that last year SpringFest featured Sunrise Yoga, but it focused on adults. This year, SpringFest will have Qigong/Tai Chi and Yoga that will be open to people of all ages and experience levels.
Alongside the Qigong/Tai Chi and Yoga offered, this year’s SpringFest will offer historical campus tours, take-home flower potting and breakfast from local restaurants like Bruegger’s Bagels and Kaladi Coffee, as well as Sodexo.
The egg hunt will start at 11 a.m. at the Humanities Garden and feature candy and prizes.
All DU faculty, staff, students, community and friends are invited to attend this event. Anyone interested in attending should RSVP.
