From the writing center to the bicycle shop in Nagel, there are many free services around campus for students to take advantage of. However, something many people don’t know is that, as a student, you can access Rosetta Stone for free through DU. Rosetta Stone is software designed to help you learn a language using a combination of microphone speech tests and on-screen game-like activities.
To find the program itself, you have to do a little digging. By going to the DU Library’s home page (www.library.du.edu) and searching in the “Databases” section under “R” and scrolling down to the 15th result, you can find the link for the program. It will bring you to the site’s homepage, where, after entering your Student ID and password, you can begin to gain access to Rosetta Stone.
After you perform a quick test to see if your computer is compatible with the software (the website does it for you automatically) you can begin to download Rosetta Stone programs. Offering every level for a wide variety of languages from German to Vietnamese, the free programs can assist you in learning a new language for whatever reason. Whether you are looking to brush up on a language you’ve learned before, supplementing learning one currently or simply just want to begin learning a new language this is the program for you.
